The Artist: Bryshere Casiano
Originally from the Bronx, I studied structural engineering and architecture. I started my career as an intern developing ideas and concepts for Disney, and quickly climbed the corporate ladder to a Senior Design Engineer position.
The year 2017 was a time to pause and redefine my goals, as well as my idea of success. I traveled, journaled, and dedicated my time to me. That was probably the best time of my life.
After living through my own “Eat, Pray, Love” moment, I moved to Los Angeles. It was there where I really dove into the one thing that I never explored professionally but always loved to do—art. I’m not going to lie, at first L.A. was not a very inspirational place for me. I missed the other places I called home for many years. I felt out of place. It took awhile but I figured it out- I found the inspiration needed to spark a creative journey. LA was now my new home.
Soon after people started taking interest in my art I decided to start an art business. However, the business became my downfall as a creative. Instead of just creating, I was now seeking validation through social media and sales. People telling me that my art was good was no longer enough for me…so I stopped trying. No more posts. My art became just myart, for my eyes only. I became hidden and so did my creativity.
I would consider 2020-2021 to be the best and worst time of my life. After near death experiences, creativity and love were the only things that I had to get me through. There was a lot of starting and stopping, self doubt, and what I call creative mood swings, which ultimately brought me here. 2022 is what I consider to be the true beginning of my artistic journey.
My unconventional and adventurous path has given me the opportunity to wear many hats.My favorite hat being the one in which imagery is involved. I am inspired to inspire myself and to inspire other creatives. It is the genuine connections that I build with people and places that allow me to create enticing and thoughtful visual aesthetics and meaningful content.
So who is Bryshere Casiano? I’m an engineer and artist, I’m a visual strategist- But don’t box me in!
